Rick Curry will be a participant in the Developed Lands & Industrial Work Group which has been established by the Region 9 Planning and Development Council and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to develop West Virginia's Phase II Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP).
The purpose of the Work Group is to:
- Discuss specific water-quality attainment strategies for stormwater, wastewater, developed and industrial lands, and agriculture;
- Participate in a day-long Chesapeake Bay summit; and
- Provide inputs on developing and establishing a nutrient credit trading program for the Potomac Tributary.
The WIP defines how West Virginia, in partnership with federal and local governments and private-sector stakeholders, will achieve and maintain the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) nitrogen, phosphorous, and sediment allocations established to meet Chesapeake Bay water-quality standards.
